NBA 2k24 Championship Edition is being described as an “ultra-premium” package that will include a full year’s subscription to NBA League Pass which will let you watch over 1000 out-of-market games throughout the season. No word on what either NBA 2k24 premium package will cost NBA 2K24 MT, but NBA League Pass isn’t cheap (it’s around $200 a year) so expect the Championship Edition to cost a pretty penny.

Game publisher Take-Two Interactive has been hit by a class-action lawsuit aimed at NBA 2K's loot boxes and microtransactions. The lawsuit was originally filed on behalf of a minor's guardian on January 11, 2022, in Winnebago County Circuit Court before being moved to the Illinois Northern District Court (Western Division) in late February. Of course, this is far from the first time Take-Two and NBA 2K have been under criticism due to the loot boxes and microtransactions. A couple of years ago, a particularly gambling focused trailer of NBA 2k24 prompted a response by the ESRB. Even earlier than that, in 2018, the publisher was forced to tweak the game's microtransactions in countries like the Netherlands and Belgium due to their strict anti-gambling laws.

NBA 2K22 has something to prove after last year’s shaky season. NBA 2k24’s current and next-gen versions were released a couple of months apart and it felt like developer Visual Concepts had spread themselves thin between the two. Sure, the next-gen model made some forward strides, but too much of the experience was copy-pasted from the Xbox One and PS4 versions.

Thankfully, it seems Visual Concepts have their eye back on the prize with NBA 2K22, largely focusing on next-gen, while providing a more consistent on-court experience between both generations of the game. So yes, things feel a little less weird this year, but the question remains… is NBA 2K22 actually have the skills to pay the bills? Time to see if this one has its head in the game…

The new system is a huge improvement, featuring a large, easily readable shooting meter with a sweet spot that grows or shrinks depending on your choice of shot and how heavily you’re defended. Successful shooting is now more about strategy and picking your spots rather than mastering finicky meters and mechanics.
