In the past, any random linebacker could shrug off a block and bring Derrick Henry to the ground with some cheesy animation. Now, that unheralded linebacker wants to call it quits before his time because of Derrick Henry. Aaron Donald can easily put Derrick Henry or any other bruising running back in their place. The same goes for any other running back.

The addition of the new quick-time tackle event adds another layer of interesting competition. During the event, you'll continuously be mashing the X button (on PlayStation, this is the A button), so whenever you initiate a tackle, you should just start mashing. In a similar manner, when you are about to be tackled, begin mashing X so that you can either avoid being taken down or get a head start on the quick-time event. It's possible that this will change in the future, requiring you to press a different combination of buttons in order to avoid being tackled.

Understanding defensive AI improvements

Aside from passing and tackling, the most significant improvement that was made to MUT 23 sell coins was to the artificial intelligence of the defensive players, particularly the zone defenders and pass rushers. There is no way to know how many game controllers were launched across the room every time a player in Madden 22 scored a touchdown by hitting their opponent with a deep crosser. Roll out with Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson, and hit a 30-yard cross down the field while the safety backpedals into no-man's land. This was almost a formula. We can thank MUT 23 pc coins for putting a stop to that, at least in a significant part of the case.

In Madden 23, players won't aimlessly backpedal in the direction of your safeties unless they are being threatened to get behind them. Instead, they will come up on those crossing routes, which will put them in a position where they are better able to break on the ball once the quarterback throws it. We haven't seen our deep crossers get open in any other situation than when the defense is playing single-high man or zero-blitz so far. Having said that, our receivers need to have the speed necessary to break free from their man defenders.

Proceed with your checkdowns.

In Madden 23, checkdown throws, which include drags, spots, and short RB routes, are more important than they have ever been. To begin, the defensive AI won't give your receivers open routes unless they've already earned it. If you make the right reads, there is still a chance that you will find someone who is wide open on a corner route or deep post. When your primary target isn't available, you should try to throw the ball on one of those quick drag routes across the field or send your running back on an out route. Just be careful, and check to see if a flat defender is poised to steal the ball from under your feet.

Second, the pass rush in free MUT 23 coins is one of the most brutal aspects of the game. It is not possible to constantly scramble out of the pocket and throw deep crossers for the entire day. Instead, you will need to stand in and make your reads when you are needed. However, this does not mean that designed QB rollouts are completely fruitless. They are an inherent part of the game and one of the reasons why quarterbacks such as Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen pose such a threat to their teams. As edge rushers break off their blockers and run you down, you won't have as much time to make it to the sideline as you would like.

Don't get in the way of the TEs and RBs.

  • You won't have nearly as much spare time at your disposal as you did last year

  • Because the defensive AI has been improved, quick throws and checkdowns will be the most effective plays in Madden 23

  • You might believe that the solution to brutal pass rushers is to block with the tight end or the running back

  • Don't

Even the most talented tight ends like Travis Kelce and George Kittle are unable to save their careers by being effective pass blockers. They will always be squashed off the line, so it is in your best interest to put them on a route instead of leaving them there. In point of fact, Tommy Hudson, a 62 overall rating tight end for the Tennessee Titans, has a pass blocking rating of 66, making him the best pass-blocking TE in the game.

When it comes to blocking with your RB, the same principle applies. Even Derrick Henry is going to get taken down by the linemen and linebackers who are coming. If you sense that an oncoming blitz is imminent, it is best to either send your running back on a route that requires him to make a quick cut or call an audible for a screen pass. For the sake of comparison, Kerryon Johnson, a free agent with 69 overall OVR and 70 pass blocking, is currently the best pass-blocking running back in the game.

For the sake of comparison, the best right tackles and left tackles have pass-blocking stats in the high 70s to low 80s. The question "What are your coaching adjustments?" appears on each and every video that a Madden player uploads to YouTube. In Madden 23, you can make the majority of your coaching adjustments once and then forget about them. Certain adjustments, however, may need to be changed depending on the playstyle and circumstances. As a pleasant surprise, Electronic Arts has implemented some of the community's suggested changes to the practice mode coaching system. You are now free to experiment with any and all of the options without the pressure of actually having to run a game.
