Ulysse Nardin Marine Torpileur
The Ulysse Nardin Marine Torpilleur is a timepiece in the style of a classic nautical watch with a white dial and elongated Roman numerals. It has a power reserve indicator at the top and a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock with a circular date window. The name "Torpilleur" refers to the torpedo boat, which was part of the naval fleet from about 1875 after the invention of the torpedo.
vintage inspiration
The Ulysse Nardin Marine Torpilleur is basically a lighter, thinner version of the existing Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer. It doesn't have an enamel dial, which allows its price to be reduced to the brand's almost entry-level status. It is based on a vintage Ulysse Nardin pocket watch with a very similar dial design.
case
With a diameter of 42 m, the case is easier to wear than the 45 mm Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer. Available in stainless steel or rose gold with a fluted bezel, the finish is superb, with polished areas contrasting with the brushed finish for a unique look on the wrist. It has 5 bar/50m water resistance and a screw-down crown. The caseback of this watch has a sapphire crystal window that allows to see the movement, its circular Côtes de Genève and a refined oscillating weight with two realistic anchor points. The date can be quickly adjusted forward or backward from the crown.

Movement The UN-118 movement is made with some of Ulysse Nardin's proprietary innovations, such as the regulator, in which the balance wheel is equipped with four inertial weights, and the hairspring and escapement are made of silicon. In particular, the escapement components are made of DIAMonSIL (manufactured by SIgatec, now part of the Ulysse Nardin group), a material in which synthetic diamonds are deposited on the surface of silicon, which greatly reduces friction and reduces the need for lubricants , thus extending durability and increasing power reserve. The movement is self-winding and has a power reserve of approximately 60 hours. It vibrates 28,800 times per hour (4 Hz) and has 50 jewels. It is COSC chronometer certified and comes with a Ulysse Nardin performance certificate.
